What tool gets the seeds out of olives?
There is a small hand tool for removing pits from olives and cherries if one is talking about small quantities. Of course in large production there are automatic pitters.
The tool you are referring to is called an "olive pitter" or again can be called a "cherry pitter" as well since the two foods are about the same size and the pit is similar.
Pitting cherries though is a colorful mess due to the juices flying around, just ask my aunt Carlotta about one summer when my cousin and I "helped" pit what seemed like bushels of cherries for freezing in Michigan many years ago.
Cured olives are fairly soft enough to even pit them without a tool by pressing on one end until the pit is extracted. Not as pretty as using the tool but does the job.
We have even sold some green olives "cracked" which means they have had a line cut around the fattest part of the olive so that the pit comes out easily by hand in in your mouth. It is okay to graciously eat olives with pits and using your spoon discretely get rid of the pit
